Martial Arts Training
Self-Defense Classes for Kids
Kids Martial Arts programs focus on the fundamental skills of learning. Listening, attention and focus. Building confidence through overcoming challenge is critical to building a young student from the ground up. Kids learn effective self defense with skill drills, simulated attack situations and several forms of sparring. Building skill in movement and rank creates confidence and self-esteem. Through our fun and dynamic group and private lessons kids stay engaged and have fun while also understanding the expectation of an organized disciplined environment.

The lion dances are amazing!! Traditional Chinese!!
My home away from home! I came for the Tai Chi and stayed because of the instructors... they are encouraging and inspiring in all aspects.
Eastern Ways is an excellent school for many reasons. They adhere very strictly to original traditions and teachings and pass them on with skill and patience. Also, students work hard for and earn each level of sash. Emphasis is on using least amount of force necessary and most of all on preventing the need for it altogether. They are excellent with children as well.

It's only my 2nd week learning Tai Chi, but I am very pleased with what I have learned. The instructors are very patient and welcoming. I'm looking forward to Tai Chi becoming part of my everyday life.

Kung Fu is not just a martial art. It is a way of life. You can spend your life studying the art, but every moment along the way will be the most fulfilling moment to date. Eastern Ways educates you in so much more than fighting. It educates you in true understanding. Understanding of the art, but also of your own body, your own boundaries and limits, and identifies what you are truly capable of. I am new to my journey (8 years), but I do not feel like it has been a long one. Every day I shed my Black sash and put on my White eager to learn more. I am excited every day knowing there is so much more to learn and eventually master. Tai Sifu and Tai Simo's skill and dedication is reflected in the skill and comprehension of their Sifu's (Stroh and Lendech). This is the true measure of a school. Not their owners, but the Sifus, Instructors and Students that represent them. Eastern Ways is my Family and this is what you should be looking for in a school.

My daughter has been taking lessons here for a few months now. She really loves it! She learns new skills weekly and is able to move up at her own pace while at the same time always being challenged. The instructors are amazing. Hers is Mr. Gardener. He is very passionate about what he does and keeps her engaged the entire time. She has had lessons with Mr Langlet and he is amazing too. Staff is always friendly and helpful. They greet us and shake our hands Everytime we go in. Sometimes I sit in the car with the baby so he can play and they will come out and make sure she gets to the car safely after her lesson.

Our kids have been learning kungfu from Eastern Ways Martial arts for the last 9 yrs. Exceptional teachers who work hard to bring the best in kids , friendly staff, well kept studios and overall a unique experience.......
Awe some Instructors for both young and older students, who are very good at what they do and sincerely do seem to care about all of their students, with the ability to work around any physical issues you may have so that you can still learn your Martial Art and keep making progress, how much it all can improve your health, the general atmosphere, the understanding of our Tai Sifu and Tai Simo.....The patience of the entire staff when it is needed by a student. Just a very nice place to be to "really" learn your Martial Art and being able to see the skills of your Instructors and know you are being taught well and correctly. EWMA just rocks!
Love Eastern ways, they give the children the true sense of respect and humility, the owners and instructors are devoted and passionate. My children love their teachers Mr. Melo and Mr. Driver.

Absolutely not! At Eastern Ways we are careful to teach students that martial arts are strictly for self defense. During the course of training students will develop respect for others and confidence in themselves through rising to the challenge of martial arts.
Definitely! Because we specialize in private lessons, instructors are able to tailor the pace of each class to each student. Kids with lots of energy need regular classes to get out that energy in a safe and controlled environment.
Keep bringing them in! Part of the martial arts is the value of commitment. Be sure to be firm with your child that it is important to come to the classes you have agreed upon. Martial Arts is an investment in the education of your child, not just another sport. As they stick with the prescribed training program they will gain the benefit and development that comes with perseverance. Group training is a core part of training. Your instructor would be happy to have a mat chat with your student if needed.
No. We never charge fees for ranking sashes or testing. We believe ranks should be earned through preparation and readiness.
Absolutely not! We have had students attain their black sash as old as 96 years old. Because we specialize in private lesson we can tailor the training to a wide range of abilities and ages.
